The Goal Behind The Brand

Hi, I’m Rachel, former teacher, Tolkienite, dog mom and owner of Rachel E Scott.

Like many people in post-pandemic 2021, I was reconsidering everything. Mainly, my job. I’d been substitute teaching for a few years and landed a full-time teaching job in 2020. And while I loved my students, my heart wasn’t in the classroom.

It was in my writing.

When the end of the school year rolled around, I discovered that I wasn’t being rehired. At the time, I was hurt, frustrated and confused. But under all of that, I felt…relieved. Finally, I felt like I didn’t have to pretend anymore. I felt like God was releasing me from the sense of obligation that had been fueling me since college. And while many people around me thought I should find a new teaching job, I felt my heart being tugged elsewhere.

I spent the following summer feeling anxious and unsure where to go. There were no jobs I felt a passion for—and as a passion-based person, I needed to love what I did.

I remember one day when I was working on a story I'd been writing at the time, I got up and pulled a book from my shelf. Out of curiosity, I looked up the author and discovered that she was self-published. That’s when I knew that I could do this.

So, when September came and still the only desire in my heart was to write, I decided to try to make it a career. I’d been writing stories since I could remember and began my first book at the age of 12. But now it was time to take it seriously. I spent four months researching self-publishing, feeling overwhelmed, struggling to figure out how to write a proper novel that someone would actually buy. It was a hard season, and at the time, I was my only cheerleader.

But then in January of 2022, I published my first book. I made a lot of mistakes, and my career did not suddenly take off like it had in my daydreams. In fact, it would be a full year and a half before I saw real growth in my career. And even still today, I’m growing and learning.

But I loved my job, even through the struggles.

I did, however, feel like I was still missing some purpose. I loved writing, but I wanted to help people somehow. Do something that had an impact on others. So, in November of 2023, I began a YouTube channel where I did cash stuffing and vlogs. I’d never seen someone cash stuff with as little money as I had, but I wanted to show others that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you can start.

And that’s what became the mantra behind my entire brand.

From cash stuffing to book planning and every other niche I end up covering, my goal has always been to help people to not feel alone. To feel like they have a cheerleader. Because the truth is that the person who’s five steps ahead of you isn’t better than you, they just took a leap. Often, we think we need absolute knowledge of something before we can begin, but that’s not true.

Most successful people in life didn’t plan it out perfectly, they just had the guts to try.

When it came to starting this small business, I knew I wanted it to center around planning. I’d loved planning since I was a kid, drafting my own planner ideas in middle school (they were terrible, but I was passionate), so planning was a natural fit for me. But the spin I wanted to put on the industry was not just to sell tools to people. I wanted to create and sell tools that people could put in their toolbelt and truly feel like they could do whatever they set their mind to.

So as this brand continues to grow and evolve and I create new products and modify old ones, I want you to know that my goal is not to make your life more complicated or convince you that you need my help. My goal is to make things that help you see what you’re capable of with a little courage and one person in your corner. And now that you’re here, all you need is the courage🤎
